Gas Safety in the Home

Natural Gas Wells usually produce a scent of gas around the wellhead, however be aware that on windy days, the smell can spread further than usual. If you suspect the smell is more abundant than usual, then do the following:

a. Do not turn on any lights or use the telephone

b. Ensure everyone leaves the home/building IMMEDIATELY!! Use a telephone away from the building to call Petroleum Service Partners, Inc. at 724-349-1536.

Appliance Safety

The majority of gas leases allow for free gas use by the property owner. This gas is delivered from the producer’s pipeline via pressure regulators. These regulators should be serviced annually by a qualified technician to assure that they are working properly.

One-Call

If any type of excavation is required, use the PA One Call System at least three days before the excavation begins. Why? This system allows any company who may have underground lines in the area of the excavation to properly mark where their lines are located.

Call 811 or visit their website at www.paonecall.org

PSP, Inc. is not a member of PA One Call because we are not a Public Utility. If you see that your site has a PSP well located on the property, call us at 724-349-1536 and we will put a work order in for our employees to mark our lines.

Wells

NO SMOKING within 100’ of the well head, tank, exposed line, and compressors.

Tanks

For the safety of the public, we restrict individuals from climbing the tanks on a well location.

  1. DO NOT CLIMB up the ladder or up onto the tank.
  2. DO NOT STAND on the tank.
  3. NO SMOKING within 100’ of the tank.
  4. NO HUNTING from the tank.

Pipelines

PSP, Inc. pipelines are marked on the surface by yellow carsonite markers or wire line flags. Before digging call 724-349-1536 and let us know that you are going to dig. PSP will then send somebody out to mark the pipeline.

Compressors

Almost all of the compressors that Petroleum Service Partners, Inc. operates are surrounded by a Compressor Building. DO NOT ATTEMPT to enter the building; it is there for the safety of the general public. If there is a compressor station with no building, stay at least 10’ away from the machine. If you believe there is something wrong with the compressor, locate the company information located on the compressor building or well and get in touch with the appropriate institution. If you know that the compressor is operated by PSP, Inc. call us at 724-349-1536.
